BUTTER is a teen story that’s immediately timely for this day and age and is seeking a minimum of $1.5 million and maximum $1.75 million in financing. Centering on universal teen themes of finding one’s place in the ever-shifting emotional terrain of high school, popularity and learning to value oneself, the film also addresses many key issues of the day – teen obesity, cyber bullying, and suicide in a realistic yet empathetic way.

The filmmakers are looking at a minimum investment of $50,000. Within the LLC there will be 30-35 units available and will be limited to select, accredited investors.

The LLC will be divided into two equal parts. Half will be owned by the Limited Partnership. The Limited partners are the investors. The other half will be owned by the General Partnership. MARKETPLACE POTENTIAL

Small unique films capturing the underdog are winning the hearts of filmgoers all over the world.  Historically, these have been many of the films that we have loved as audiences and that have become iconic: NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and JUNO to name a few. There is a huge demand for these smaller, more personal movies that the big film studios don’t make, but are very aggressive to buy and distribute.

As recently as this year, we’ve seen tremendous success in this arena with movies such MOONLIGHT which was made independently for under $4 Million and went on to win three Academy Awards including Best Picture. MOONLIGHT has grossed over 65 Million dollars worldwide. Last year’s WHIPLASH, also a low budget independent movie won three Oscars and grossed over 50 Million.  Last year’s Sundance phenom PATTI CAKE$ was made for $1.5 Million with no recognizable name talent or stars. The story, about an overweight woman who travels across America to achieve her passion to become a Rapper, recently took Sundance by storm and sold to FOX SEARCHLIGHT for $11 million.

Independent Films are also making Awards History. GET OUT had a budget of under $5 Million and has thus far made over $250 Million. It was nominated for 5 Academy Awards and Won for Best Original Screenplay. LADY BIRD another Independent movie was nominated for 5 Academy Awards. MUDBOUND was made for under $10 Million and was bought at Sundance by Netflix for $12.5 Million and received 4 Academy Award nominations. THE BIG SLICK was made for under $5 Million and was purchased by Amazon at Sundance for $12 Million and has thus far made almost $60 Million. THE FLORIDA PROJECT was made for $1.5 Million and sold to A24 at Cannes Film Festival and Willam Defoe was Nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. CALL ME BY YOUR NAME was made for under $3 Million and is approaching $40 Million and had 4 Academy Award nominations, winning for Best Adapted Screenplay. With Amazon, Hulu and Netflix, indie films are aggressively being bid on. The market place is ripe for a film like BUTTER.

BUTTER is a story with broad emotional themes and audience appeal. For parents who are negotiating the tricky waters of seeing their children through the increasingly emotionally complex terrain of adolescence and beyond, and the kids who need to survive it. We’ve all been and felt like the underdog from time to time, and BUTTER will tap into that universality and potential. Similar to the wildly successful teen underdog stories of the past (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, JUNO, and LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE) recent indie breakout hits (MOONLIGHT, WHIPLASH, GET OUT and CALL ME BY YOUR NAME ), and the cultural significance longform stories such as Netflix’s 13 REASONS WHY, BUTTER has the potential of a tremendous upside financially and culturally.
