We hope teachers and parents around the world will use our film BUTTER to help discuss the sensitive
issues of teen mental health, bullying and suicide prevention with their students and children.

THE CURRICULUM IS FREE OF CHARGE

“Napa County students had the opportunity to see Butter before its release and absolutely loved it, as did their teachers and parents. I believe every student in America should see and discuss this film.”

- Dr. Barbara Nemko
Napa County Superintendent of Schools

“Tackling the topic of obesity and suicide through insight and comedy, writer and director Paul A. Kaufman adapts a movie that is funny yet Butter is a film that dares to talk about these tough topics that may help start your own conversations with your teens at home.
poignant.”

- Pamela Powell, Reel Honest Reviews

"This story can serve as a catalyst for serious conversations with teens. It is an earnest film, filled with affection for teenagers and empathy for their challenges. If you want to open up discussions with your teen about mental illness, bullying, kindness, or making choices, this film could be a good place to start."

"Butter serves as a vital wake-up call about the harmful effects of bullying and the importance of mental health, empathy and compassion."

- New York City Movie Guru

"Not all films about bulling hit the nail on the head, but Butter has the ingredients to reach out to the audience most affected by the social aggressors. Nicely acted, this heartfelt story shows even the intelligent and talented are subjects of the unkindness. Although seemingly targeted to the teen to twenties, parents of students should also take heed."

- Aced Magazine

★★★★★
"This is a heartbreaking but important drama about mental health, obesity, and giving people in need proper support."

- Monique Jones, Common Sense Media

ABOUT THE CURRICULUM

The Curriculum was written by an amazing company called HyperDocs. HyperDocs are digital lesson plans that are designed by teachers and given to students. There are currently over 40,000 teachers using HyperDocs today to teach inside and outside the classroom.

It is also free to parents who homeschool.

HyperDocs are very user friendly and works on the Google Docs platform.

With HyperDocs you can create and customize for your students on any topic or subject. They promote inquiry based learning and make learning interactive, collaborative, and student centered.

The key to the lesson design is allowing students to explore a concept before the explanation or lecture. Delivering these lessons can be done on tech or off, creating the perfect blended learning lesson.

This HyperDoc was created to go along with viewing the film "Butter" by Paul A Kaufman. It includes tasks for engaging, exploring, explaining, applying, sharing, and reflecting related to the many layers students will experience viewing the movie. This lesson is meant to be copied, edited and revised to meet the needs of the students using it. The user can take parts of it to use in the classroom, or follow the entire lesson for the full experience.

The Curriculum for Butter is a creative one where students are asked to make a video, song, podcast, write a poem or letter or even come up with their own creative idea.

Here are some examples of what some students have done, using the BUTTER Curriculum:
